Earlier this month learner leaders of AF Louw Primary School in Stellenbosch showed their appreciation to schools\u2019 Change Teams, comprising of principals, members of the school management team and governing body, parents, teachers and non-teaching school staff as well as prefects from across the Cape Winelands Education District. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Johann Burger, Deputy Chief Education Specialist at the WCED and a co-ordinator of the programme, the learner leaders requested that participants be thanked in the foyer of the school hall, and showed their appreciation by presenting participants with two cakes with the WCED\u2019s T2P logo and \u201c2019 the year of the learner\u201d printed on it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Anne Tarr, the school principal, the learners thanked the participants from the bottom of their hearts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They raised funds by means of a \u201ccivies\u201d day to pay for the cakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The WCED\u2019s Transform to Perform Strategy is based on four important pillars, namely leadership and development, growth mindset for teachers and values in education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This strategy is the brainchild of Brian Schreuder, WCED\u2019s head of education, who has requested schools adopt one specific direction setting value per month which should be specifically chosen to strengthen their school\u2019s culture, vision, mission and assist with the school\u2019s strategy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is of the opinion that when learners embrace their schools\u2019 direction setting values as their own, it will filter into their communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
