The District Netball League (DNL), proudly sponsored by ClemenGold, takes place from 4 to 6 February as part of an ongoing effort to develop high performance players within the Western Cape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Action is set to take place at the Woodmill Centre in Stellenbosch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The District Netball League inaugural ranking tournament, held in March last year, saw teams split into an A and B division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each of the teams \u2013 in both the A and B divisions \u2013 are sponsored by a local business and will be promoted in the lead up and during the tournament. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Stellenbosch (Winelands) will be represented by two teams: Aramex Eagles coached by Freda Kemp and In2ution Falcons coached by Anel Mostert. Aramex Eagles will play in the A Division and Falcons B Division. Both Kemp and Mostert are former national players and now prominent coaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first ClemenGold District Netball League will follow a round robin format, then a relegation match and or finals to conclude the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis new District weekend competition will become an add-on to the already existing Western Cape competitions and has been created for players to grow and showcase their talent,\u201d said the president: Western Cape Netball Federation, Bennie Saayman. \u201cThe fact that the participating district clubs will be supported by a sponsor is long overdue and so extremely appreciated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
ClemenGold commented that it is a brand that compliments health and fitness and with a strong focus on women empowerment, netball is the perfect fit most notably so because it has the greatest sport participation numbers for women in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Players will not pay to play and DNL thanks First National Bank for the sponsorship of an impressive prize purse as well as the partnership of their projects and partnerships in place at grassroots level. Successful relationships such as this one serve as a stepping stone towards the Netball South Africa vision of making the game fully professional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maties threatened a late comeback in the last 15 minutes, keeping the home crowd on edge, but the Eagles' discipline and resilience saw them over the line. It's back to the drawing board for Maties Netball as they look to find winning ways in their next outings, a double-header at the University of Pretoria's Rembrandt Hall on Sunday 7 and Monday 8 September.
