Two new mobile schools \u2013 a primary school and a high school \u2013 are set to be completed in Klapmuts this year. Bronagh Hammond, a spokesperson for the Western Cape Education Department, confirmed this development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hammond says the rapid residential expansion of the town has created a significant demand for school placement for learners to be taught in Xhosa. At the moment these learners have to travel to neighbouring towns such as Paarl, Kraaifontein and Khayamandi to get an education. Hammond added that this is not a sustainable situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have been engaging with the community to find appropriate land for school construction as well as temporary solutions for placement while construction takes place. We have now secured the necessary land, and are planning for two schools \u2013 one primary and one high \u2013 in the town. The mobile primary school and high school is expected to be up and running this year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The department cannot confirm an exact completion date at this stage. This is due to planning that is still taking place, and processes that need to be followed. \u201cWhen completed, the schools will be able to accommodate 1 240 primary school and 1 480 high school learners,\u201d says Hammond.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
