Die plataan, ook bekend as die Londense plataan, is waarskynlik \u2019n kruising tussen die Oosterse plataan (Platanus orientalis<\/span>) en die Amerikaanse sycamore (Platanus occidentalis<\/span>) en kry die wetenskaplike naam Platanus x acerfolium<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Baie van die plataanbome van Victoriastraat is waarskynlik destyds deur prof. daarop ge\u00ebnt het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Vandag is dit \u2019n reuseboom met die voorkoms van \u2019n plataan wat op \u2019n een meter ho\u00eb akkerboomstam ge\u00ebnt is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Talle studente
