\u201cOns is baie opgewonde. Ons het baie lank gewag. Dit was \u2019n lang, hartseer en moeilike pad tot vandag, maar hier is ons uiteindelik en ons is dankbaar,\u201d het Pieter Taaibosch, voorsitter van die begunstigdeskomitee van die projek, ges\u00ea. \u201cBaie van die oorspronklike begunstigdes is reeds dood, maar ten minste kan hul kinders nou die huise kry.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nellie Davids (48), wie se ma van die oorspronklike begunstigdes was, is bly sy kon haar ma se huis kry. \u201cEk is bly dat hierdie voorreg my nie ontneem is nie. My ma het tot haar dood vir \u2019n huis gewag. Ek wag al langer as 40 jaar vir hierdie dag. Dit is \u2019n groot mylpaal vir ons gemeenskap,\u201d het Davids ges\u00ea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Christopher (43) en Grentchen Taaibosch (42) s\u00ea hulle wag al bykans 25 jaar vir \u2019n eie huis. \u201cOns is dankbaar dat ons ook nou \u2019n huis van ons eie kan h\u00ea. Ons het as kinders hier grootgeword met buitetoilette en sonder elektrisiteit. Vandag het ons ons eie krag en water. Ons is ook bly dat almal wat saam met ons gewag het, insluitend die kinders van begunstigdes wat al oorlede is, nou hierdie voorreg kan ervaar.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die burgemeester van Stellenbosch, adv. Gesie van Deventer, het ges\u00ea sy is bly die munisipaliteit kon uiteindelik vir die mense van Longlands en Vlottenburg huise gee. \u201cDrie kontrakteurs later en ons het dit gedoen. Dit was \u2019n moeilike en uitdagende pad, maar ons is bly ons kon dit laat werk. Toe ek destyds in 2016 as burgemeester ingekom het, het die gemeenskap my genader om hulp met die behuisingskwessie, en ek het hulle belowe ons gaan dit laat werk,\u201d het sy by die oorhandiging ges\u00ea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDie behuisingsprojek is die eerste keer in 2003 deur die ANC van stapel gestuur, maar is nie voltooi nie. Daar was baie probleme. Ons het toe oorgeneem, en vandag is ons hier,\u201d het sy bygevoeg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Van Deventer s\u00ea die amptelike oorhandiging sal later vanjaar plaasvind, maar hulle laat toe dat mense intrek sodra die huise voltooi is ten einde vandalisme te voorkom.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
