Arts, culture, live music and cocktails will mingle at the Art & Appetisers charity event at Val de Vine, a guest house located on Drie Lande Guest Farm in the Cape Winelands, this Saturday, 22 October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All the proceeds will go to the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa). Entry is free of charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event is the brainchild of co-owner Jonathan Mentz, after the cancellation of the Hanger Bash of the Stellenbosch Flying Club a few months ago. He explains: \u201cThe proceeds of the Hanger Bash would have gone to the Weber Gedenk Primary School in Jamestown, but the event was unfortunately cancelled. I spoke to Matt Ray, one of the organisers, and offered to host the event here at Val de Vine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The idea quickly escalated into a bigger event than what Mentz had originally expected, with more people on board. \u201cThe event is going to be awesome and many collaboraters will come in and put up stalls and people can enjoy the informal market with live bands. The event is for the entire family and there will be something for everyone. Kids will be entertained with magic, face paint, a slip and slide and many more activities. We will also have a tattoo artist . \u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mentz says the reason he chose Cansa as a beneficiary is personal and dear to his heart. \u201cMy mom Val is a cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin\u2019s lymphoma a few years ago, which took us all by surprise. But she\u2019s a fighter and we are happy she is in remission. So we are happy to support Cansa and the work it does.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the weeks leading up to the event Val de Vine ran a graffiti competition, and the winner will do a live graffiti painting at the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
