A series of pop-up performances in aid of a charity event called Lights of Hope will be held at the Dorps Museum (in Ryneveld Street) and Voorgelegen building (in Dorp Street) between 10:00 to 13:00 daily from 13 to 18 December. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe purpose is to raise funds through busking that can contribute towards our Christmas (Light of Hope) event for 150 children in Steps Cloetesville, on 20 December,\u201d says organiser Hilton Mandela Andries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He says those in Steps, \u201cespecially the vulnerable, are living in fear due to gang violence happening daily. With this project we aim to bring a message of prosperity, peace and hope in our socially impacted community. We also want to do something special for the children who\u2019s parents cannot afford to and put a smile on their faces.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pop-up performances are open to everyone to come and enjoy. There will also be an opportunity to make donations as well, though these are not compulsory they will help greatly towards the purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Andries, the Lights of Hope project is dedicated to the children of Steps. \u201cIf I get more assistance we can cover the costs for more children. Food lovers Market has already agreed to help so we are very grateful towards them.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
