Die Motsepe-stigting het verlede Donderdag (16 Februarie) bykans R1 miljoen aan die Universiteit Stellenbosch se Studenteraad (SR) geskenk om studente hul historiese skuld te help afbetaal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
William Sezoe, ondervoorsitter van die SR, het die tjek vir R800 000 verlede week by \u2019n geleentheid in Johannesburg ontvang, waar die stigting ook aan talle ander universiteite donasies gegee het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cVanjaar het sowat 562 studente aan die deur van die US se SR geklop vir hulp met historiese skuld, wat die totale skuld van studente op meer as R20 miljoen gebring het. Met die hulp van die US se Alumni Netwerke kon die SR saam met sy institusionele komitee, Student Debt Working Group (SDWG), sowat R3,4 miljoen insamel,\u201d het Sezoe ges\u00ea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hy s\u00ea die SR verwelkom hierdie broodnodige donasie van die Motsepe-stigting \u201caangesien dit ons kan help om meer studente te help\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOns werk hou natuurlik nie hier op nie; die SR is tans besig om aan \u2019n paar geldinsamelingsprojekte te werk om meer geld in te samel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHiermee wil ons seker maak dat elke student wat akademies goed presteer het die geleentheid kry om weer terug in die stelsel te kom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
