Die jaarlikse asterskou het weer eens sy doel bereik om die allermooiste blomme te kweek en tuiniers te laat meeding. N\u00e1 nege maande se harde werk deur die 16 lede van die skou, is ongeveer 580 blomme ingeskryf. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDit was \u2019n groot sukses, soos blyk uit die ongeveer 700 toeskouers wat die skou besoek het, \u2019n verbetering op verlede jaar se syfer,\u201d s\u00ea die organiseerder, Gregory Davids van die Stellenbosch tuinbou- en nywerheidsvereniging. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Een van die hoogtepunte van die skou was die prysuitdeling, waar \u2019n nuwe lid, Trevor Abrahams, die hoofpryse gewen het. Daar was geen nuwe kategorie nie, maar \u2019n addisionele uitstaller het handwerk \u2013 naaldwerk en juwele \u2013 uitgestal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMeestal het die sosiale aspek van die skou uitgestaan, waar lede met die publiek gemeng het om die groei-aspekte van die blomme te bespreek. Een van die besoekers, Jimmy Slingers, \u2019n voormalige skoolhoof, streek-inspekteur in opvoeding en lektor by die UK, was veral be\u00efndruk met die standaard van die blomme en hul netheid,\u201d voeg Davids by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
