{"id":48042,"date":"2023-10-19T06:01:35","date_gmt":"2023-10-19T04:01:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/eikestadnuus\/intimate-riverside-encounters-after-nightfall-at-historic-wine-farm-20231019\/"},"modified":"2025-03-20T06:26:38","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T04:26:38","slug":"intimate-riverside-encounters-after-nightfall-at-historic-wine-farm-20231019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/eikestadnuus\/intimate-riverside-encounters-after-nightfall-at-historic-wine-farm-20231019\/","title":{"rendered":"Intimate riverside encounters after nightfall at historic wine farm"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"p\">\n<p>The fourth iteration of Constellations, a series of intimate encounters that beautifully connect performers, spectators and total strangers in an intriguing way, will be held at Spier next month.<\/p>\n<div class=\"p\">\n<p><em>Constellations: The Garden of Good and Evil<\/em> is a unique cultural experience in the forested wilderness of the historic farm, where atmospheric encounters await in the dark woods under a starlit sky.<\/p>\n<div class=\"p\">\n<p>Director Brett Bailey has given each of the performers a whimsical, somewhat twisted character to interpret: a singer who lives in a bush in the belief that she\u2019s an insect; a woman who reads stories to the ashes of the husband she murdered; a sensitive poet who lost his marbles in the mall.<\/p>\n<div class=\"p\">\n<p>Artists this year include singer and musician Moodship (Gary Thomas); indigenous instrumentalist Sky Dlala; singer, songwriter and composer Laurie Levine; improviser and writer Megan Choritz; physical theatre performer Siphenathi Mayekiso; Belgian storyteller Gaetan Schmid; dance artist Gita Galina, and interdisciplinary performance artist Mthuthuzeli Zimba.<\/p>\n<div class=\"p\">\n<p>Small groups will follow their guides along riverside trails at nightfall to visit six sites lit by campfires and lanterns, where extraordinary 15-minute solo performances will be delivered by a diverse group of artists. The performances promise to be surreal, unforgettable experiences brought to life through beautiful music, song and haunting tales. No under 16s are allowed.<\/p>\n<div class=\"p\">\n<p>It runs on Friday and Saturday nights from Friday 3 to Saturday 18 November at 19:00. Tickets for the two-hour event cost from R250 to R375 per person, and include a glass of Spier wine on arrival.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Book you place online through Webtickets, where more information on the
