In a display of unparalleled determination and philanthropy, Stellenbosch local Carla Annas, a passionate athlete, is preparing to embark on her very own Ironman event yet again as she continues to raise awareness and funds for a noble cause. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her solo triathlon, set to take place on Saturday 25 November, aims to raise R500 000 for her alma mater, the Stellenbosch Waldorf School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the fundraising measure gaining momentum since its inception last year (\u201cIron woman creates own challenge\u201d, 24 June 2022), the community eagerly rallies behind her as she combines her athletic prowess with a deep commitment to making a positive impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any Ironman or, in this case, Ironlady event is renowned for its gruelling challenges. While this is a monumental feat in itself, Annas has taken it upon herself to complete this arduous triathlon and use it as a platform to raise awareness for a cause close to her heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Motivated by a personal connection to the cause, the Community In Action fund has sponsored a girl\u2019s full scholarship to Stellenbosch Waldorf School (SWS), and aims to shed light on the importance of education and increased access to support and resources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHaving witnessed the impact this initiative has made on the life of a little girl and her family as well as the dozens of supporters who are as passionate about this cause,\u201d Annas said, \u201cit has fuelled my motivation and determination to make this a permanent fixture on the annual calender for the communities of Helderberg and Stellenbosch.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fundraising campaign has gained significant traction in the community and beyond, having raised well over R400 000 and all set to reach the target of R500 000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jill Benning of Stellenbosch Waldorf School said the school is absolutely in awe of the triathlete and its alumna and what she is doing for the school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe is a role-model to our students and an inspiration to our whole school community. Not only are we hugely appreciative of the financial contribution Carla\u2019s Community In Action Scholarship makes to the school, but she is providing an underprivileged child with access to an exceptional education, namely Waldorf education. Every child deserves a quality education and we are proud to say that at Stellenbosch Waldorf School that is what we offer each and every child. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s an honour that Carla chose SWS as the recipient of her scholarship, and that we can support Carla\u2019s chosen child and family with a space to thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In preparation for the Ironman event, Annas, a chief stewardess on a yacht, has undertaken an intensive training regimen, pushing her physical and mental limits to ensure she is prepared for the demanding challenges ahead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in South Africa every three months, her training routine includes rigorous swimming sessions, long-distance cycling, and gruelling runs, all while balancing her commitment to her full-time job and family responsibilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis event is an opportunity for me to raise awareness and funds that can make a tangible difference in people\u2019s lives,\u201d said Annas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outpouring of community support has been a testament to the impact Annas has already made through her unwavering determination and compassionate spirit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With each stroke, pedal and stride she is not only preparing herself physically, but also raising awareness and hope for future generations. Annas\u2019 remarkable journey encapsulates the power of an individual driven by compassion to effect change in their community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
