Die Nasionale Jeug-musiekkompetisie (NJMK) gaan aanstaande jaar onder die beskerming van die musiekdepartement van die Universiteit Stellenbosch (US) hervat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die kompetisie was die vlagskipprojek van die Nasionale Jeug-musiekstigting (NJMS), \u2019n trust onder voorsitterskap van die stigter, wyle Michael Maas. Die 2023-kompetisie is n\u00e1 sy afsterwe op 14 Maart vanjaar gekanselleer. Sedert die jaarlikse kompetisie sowat 40 jaar gelede van stapel gestuur is, is dit net een ander keer gekanselleer \u2013 in 2021 weens die globale Covid-19-pandemie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ten einde die volhoubare bestaan van die NJMK te verseker, het Aileen Maas, die administrateur van die kompetisie, en prof. Mario Nell, voorsitter van die US-musiekdepartement, moontlikhede vir die toekoms ondersoek. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maas was vir meer as 25 jaar instrumenteel met die re\u00ebl van die NJMK, en Nell (self \u2019n wenner van een die kompetisie se vroe\u00eb weergawes) het as adviseur en beoordelaar opgetree, en het deur die jare leerders en studente vir die kompetisie ingeskryf. Sy huidige leerder, die jong pianis Mike Wang, het die laaste kompetisie in 2022 gewen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOns is opgewonde om aan te kondig dat die jaarlikse NJMK vir klassieke musici tussen die ouderdomme van 14 en 19 jaar in 2024 in dieselfde formaat as die verlede, as \u2019n projek van US-musiekdepartement, sal voortgaan,\u201d verduidelik Nell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOns departement is die oudste instelling van sy soort in Suid-Afrika en spog met dekades van \u2019n trotse tradisie van toewyding tot musiekopvoeding, die uitvoerende kunste, skeppende werk en akademiese navorsing. Die NJMK se visie en missie \u2013 om ons land se uitstekende jong klassieke musici te identifiseer, te ontwikkel en openbaar bloot te stel \u2013 is paslik geskik vir die departement se toewyding om verder na kinders van skoolgaande ouderdomme uit te reik en diesulke jong talent te kweek vir verdere tersi\u00eare studies en suksesvolle loopbane.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nell sal as die direkteur van die NJMK optree, terwyl Maas die administrasie van die kompetisie sal behartig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die 2024-NJMK sal van 2 tot 7 Desember by die Endler-saal in Victoriastraat, Stellenbosch, plaasvind. Die NJMK brosjure en registrasievorms sal teen die einde Februarie 2024 by www.nymc.co.za gepubliseer word.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die wenner en finale ranglys van die NJMK word kumulatief oor vier rondes bepaal. Dis die enigste kompetisie in Suid-Afrika waar die ses finaliste sake vir die louere, begelei deur die Kaapstadse Filhamoniese Orkes (KFO), uitspook.
