{"id":44021,"date":"2024-08-15T11:05:53","date_gmt":"2024-08-15T09:05:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/eikestadnuus\/police-pounce-on-suspects-20240814\/"},"modified":"2025-03-20T07:24:39","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T05:24:39","slug":"police-pounce-on-suspects-20240814","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/eikestadnuus\/police-pounce-on-suspects-20240814\/","title":{"rendered":"Police pounce on suspects"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Being vigilant at all times is a prerequisite for all police officers on duty to ensure the safety of all citizens and, in the process, detain suspects who transgress the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This according to the Western Cape police, who shared that officers attached to the Provincial Extortion Task Team pursued information of a person in possession of a firearm without a valid license on Sunday 11 August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The officers went to the identified dwelling in Mandela Park, Klapmuts, and found a man who fitted the description provided to them. Police searched the suspect and found a firearm with ammunition in his possession. The 36-year-old man could not provide a valid licence, which resulted in his arrest for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspect then led the investigation team to a nearby address where they found a male suspect in possession of a firearm and ammunition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They arrested the 39-year-old suspect for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a separate incident on the same day (Sunday 11 August), Cloetesville police were busy with crime prevention patrols when around 17:00 they responded to information of a firearm stored at an address in Botmaskop Street. There they searched the premises and found a .38 special revolver hidden in a gutter. They detained six male suspects for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition. Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Paarl and Stellenbosch Magistrates\u2019 Court on the mentioned charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div
