Voters in Stellenbosch\u2019s Ward 8 are gearing-up for the upcoming by-election, which takes place on Wednesday 23 October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The by-election in this ward, which includes Stellenbosch University campus and residences, Coetzenburg and parts of Koloniesland, is one of three taking place in the province on the day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The three candidates contesting for the ward are Jacobus Andr\u00e9 Davids of the African National Congress (ANC); the Democratic Alliance\u2019s Tamryn Olivia Kumm as well as Zwelithini Gwele, who represents the Truth And Solidarity Movement (TRUTH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Voters who applied and have been approved for special voting will be eligible to cast their votes at the Matie Sport Cricket House on Tuesday 22 October between 08:00 and 17:00. Home voters, due to health reasons, will be visited by the IEC at any time on the same day, also between 08:00 and 17:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On voting day, Wednesday 23 October, the local voting station will open at 07:00 and close at 21:00. Voters must produce either a green barcoded ID book, a Smartcard ID or a valid Temporary Identity Certificate to be allowed to vote.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
