W\u00eareld Beroerte-week (WBW), wat van Maandag 28 Oktober tot Sondag 3 November herdenk word, is een van die Hart- en Beroerte Stigting van Suid-Afrika (HBS-SA) se jaarlikse vlagskipveldtogte, in lyn met die globale beroerteveldtogte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die doel van die veldtog is hoofsaaklik om bewustheid oor beroertes en die verwoestende gevolge daarvan te verhoog. W\u00eareldwyd het W\u00eareld Beroerte-week \u2019n aanloop tot W\u00eareld Beroerte-dag op Dinsdag 29 Oktober gehad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die W\u00eareld Beroerte Organisasie (WBO) en hul lede, waarvan die HBS-SA deel is, het die tema vir W\u00eareld Beroerte-dag vanjaar gekonseptualiseer as \u201cDie Krag van Sport Gebruik om #GroterAsBeroerte te wees\u201d. Dit is in lyn met die 2023 tema, wat \u201c#GroterAsBeroerte\u201d is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die 2024-tema poog om die krag van sport te gebruik om beroertebewustheid en -voorkoming te bevorder, almal te motiveer om elke dag aksie te neem om beroerterisiko\u2019s te verminder deur meer te beweeg, en vroe\u00eb fisiese rehabilitasie aan te moedig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Beroerte statistieke uiteengesit<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Pamela Naidoo, HBS-SA se uitvoerende hoof, het die publiek herinner dat: \u201cVolgens die W\u00eareldgesondheidsorganisasie (WGO) ly 15 miljoen mense w\u00eareldwyd jaarliks aan \u2019n beroerte en van hierdie getal sterf 5 miljoen en nog 5 miljoen word permanent gestrem, wat \u2019n las op gesinne en gemeenskappe plaas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beroerte is relatief ongewoon by mense onder die ouderdom van 40. Wanneer dit egter voorkom, is die hoofrede verhoogde bloeddruk en ernstige hipertensie. Beroerte kom ook voor by ongeveer 8% van kinders met sikkelsoetsiekte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die WBO noem \u2019n syfer van 6,6 miljoen individue wat as gevolg van \u2019n beroerte sal sterf, en een uit vier mense oor die ouderdom van 25 sal \u2019n beroerte in hul leeftyd h\u00ea. Die voorkoms van beroertes neem toe met ouderdom alhoewel meer as 62% van beroertes by mense onder die ouderdom van 70 voorkom en 16% by mense onder die ouderdom van 50.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wat is \u2019n beroerte?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Een van die pilare van die stigting se veldtog vir beroerte is om groter en dieper openbare bewustheid te skep oor die verskillende aspekte van beroertes, insluitend wat presies \u2018n beroerte is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2019n Beroerte is \u2019n serebrovaskul\u00eare gebeurtenis wat \u2019n verskeidenheid mediese toestande insluit wat die bloedvate van die brein en die serebrale sirkulasie be\u00efnvloed. Beroertes is vir jou brein wat \u2019n hartaanval vir jou hart is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As die brein nie genoeg suurstof of voedingstowwe ontvang nie, begin breinselle sterf wat permanent van aard kan wees. \u2019n Beroerte kan blywende breinskade, langtermyn gestremdheid, of selfs dood veroorsaak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enigiemand kan \u2019n beroerte kry, maar dit is meer algemeen by ouer volwassenes, met twee-derdes wat by individue oor die ouderdom van 65 voorkom. Sekere mediese toestande, soos ho\u00eb bloeddruk, ho\u00eb cholesterol, tipe 2 diabetes, en \u2019n geskiedenis van beroerte of hartaanval, verhoog die risiko van beroerte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Beroertes uiteengesit<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daar is twee hoofsoorte beroertes: iskemies, veroorsaak deur \u2019n gebrek aan bloedvloei in die brein as gevolg van \u2019n blokkasie, en hemorragies, veroorsaak deur bloeding in die brein as gevolg van \u2019n gebarste bloedvat. Beide tipes lei tot breindisfunksie en word verskillend behandel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Om die waarskuwingstekens en simptome van \u2019n beroerte te ken, is van kardinale belang vir vinnige aksie en verhoogde oorlewingskanse. Simptome sluit in skielike swakheid of gevoelloosheid, verlies van spraak, verwarring, verlies van sig, ernstige hoofpyn, duiseligheid, en probleme met loop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Naidoo s\u00ea dat dit ongelukkig is dat die individu wat \u2019n beroerte kry dikwels nie hiervan bewus is nie, en dit is dus belangrik dat mense van alle ouderdomme bewus raak van beroertesimptome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die waarskuwingstekens van \u2019n beroerte is skielik en om te weet hoe om die tekens van \u2019n beroerte te herken, is \u2019n belangrike eerste stap in die verkryging van behandeling vir die betrokke persoon. \u2019n Belangrike akroniem vir beroertesimptome om te onthou is FAST:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>F<\/strong>ace (gesig): Is een kant van die gesig slap? Kan die persoon glimlag of hul tande wys?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A<\/strong>rms: Is een kant swak? Kan die persoon albei arms vir 10 sekondes oplig sonder dat een arm laer as die ander leun?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>S<\/strong>praak: Kan die persoon praat? Is die woorde onsamehangend? Kan hulle \u2019n eenvoudige sin herhaal?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>T<\/strong>yd: As selfs een van hierdie tekens teenwoordig is, tree vinnig op en bel nooddienste. \u201cMinute kan lewens red\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stappe tot voorkoming<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beroertevoorkoming is \u2019n belangrike pilaar tydens WBW en die stigting beklemtoon die verskillende beheerbare en onbeheerde risikofaktore vir beroerte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Onbeheerde faktore sluit ouderdom, geslag, en familiegeskiedenis in, terwyl beheerbare faktore ongesonde gedrag insluit soos om \u2019n ongesonde dieet hoog in vet, sout en suiker te volg; gebrek aan gereelde oefening, rook, stres, onbeheerde chroniese siekte, en oorgewig wees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die rol van fisieke aktiwiteit in die voorkoming van beroerte is belangrik aangesien \u2019n gebrek aan aktiwiteit \u2019n risikofaktor vir beroertes is. Om \u2019n kombinasie van risikofaktore te h\u00ea, plaas uiteindelik druk op prim\u00eare gesondheidsorgbronne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die WGO definieer fisieke aktiwiteit as enige liggaamsbeweging wat energieverbruik vereis. Beide matige en intense fisieke aktiwiteit verbeter algehele gesondheid. Onvoldoende fisieke aktiwiteit verhoog die risiko van dood met 20% tot 30% in vergelyking met diegene wat voldoende aktief is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gewilde maniere van fisieke aktiwiteit sluit in stap, fietsry, rolstoelgebruik, sport, aktiewe ontspanning, en speel. Gereelde fisieke aktiwiteit help om nie-oordraagbare siektes soos hartsiektes, beroerte, tipe 2 diabetes, en kankers te voorkom en te bestuur, voorkom hipertensie, handhaaf \u2019n gesonde liggaamsgewig, en verbeter geestesgesondheid, lewenskwaliteit, en welstand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Om \u2019n gesonde liggaamsgewig te handhaaf kan beroerterisiko verminder. Dertig minute van aktiwiteit vyf keer per week kan beroerterisiko met 25% verminder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hou jou liggaam aan die beweeg<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Na-beroerte-sorg is baie belangrik vir goeie herstel. Die gebruik van fisieke aktiwiteit as \u2019n terapeutiese strategie om funksionele herstel in die rehabilitasie van beroerte oorlewendes te maksimeer, het \u2019n groeiende bewysbasis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By die HBS-SA is verhoogde bloeddruk \u2019n beduidende risikofaktor in die gemeenskappe waarin dit werk. Fisieke onaktiwiteit na \u2019n beroerte is algemeen, maar oefening kan help om die risiko van kardiovaskul\u00eare siekte te verlaag, die vermo\u00eb om jou pligte uit te voer te verhoog, en lewenskwaliteit te verbeter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Om sekond\u00eare beroerte te voorkom, is dit noodsaaklik om lae-tot-matige intensiteit a\u00ebrobiese en spierversterkende oefeninge soos stap, joga, swem of fietsry te bevorder en ander risikofaktore soos ho\u00eb bloeddruk te beheer. \u2019n Beroerte oorlewende kan volle funksie herwin met gereelde oefening. Tot 70% van beroertes kan voorkom word deur gesonde gedrag aan te neem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Verder het digitale gesondheid die praktyk van medisyne sedert 2020 as gevolg van die Covid-19 pandemie getransformeer. Gevorderde digitale tegnologiese toestelle soos slimhorlosies en toestelle word toenemend gebruik in verskeie mediese velde, insluitend beroertebestuur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hierdie vooruitgang help om simptome van beroerte te identifiseer en te bepaal, bekommernisse rakende hartgesondheid aan te spreek, en hartgesondheid te monitor sonder ingewikkelde prosedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kyk wat jy eet<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HBS-SA dieetkundiges, Shonisani Nephalama en Cari Erasmus s\u00ea dat \u201cdieetfaktore \u2019n beduidende rol speel in beroertevoorkoming en -bestuur\u201d. Epidemiologiese studies het getoon dat sekere faktore, soos \u2019n gesonde dieetpatroon wat hoog is in kalium, laag in natrium en vet en ryk aan groente, vrugte, peulgewasse, graanvesel, en volgraan, beroerterisiko kan verminder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Om versadigde vet en cholesterol met mono-onversadigde vet van olyfolie te vervang, kan help om beroerterisiko te verminder. \u2019n Studie het bevind dat \u2019n verhoogde inname van vrugte en groente met 200 g daagliks geassosieer word met \u2019n vermindering van beroerterisiko met 32% en 11%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDie Krag van Sport Gebruik\u201d en fisieke aktiwiteit elke dag verminder jou risiko om kardiovaskul\u00eare siektes sowel as serebrovaskul\u00eare siekte te ontwikkel.
