In celebration of National Disability Rights Awareness Month, culminating in the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the sixth annual \u201cWalk with Disability\u201d will return to the streets of Stellenbosch on 16 November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This anticipated event is expected to draw approximately 400 participants, bringing together people with disabilities, allies, community members and prominent figures, including representatives from Stellenbosch Municipality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event is organised by the Stellenbosch Disability Network (SDN) in partnership with Stellenbosch Municipality and local sponsor Stelkor Pharmacies, reinforcing a collective commitment to disability awareness and community integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe SDN remains dedicated to advancing disability rights and raising awareness about the capabilities and contributions of persons with disabilities,\u201d says Dr Cindy Wiggett-Barnard, chairperson of the SDN and CEO of ChangeAbility. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBy fostering greater understanding and promoting inclusion, we can strengthen our communities and pave the way for a more accessible society that benefits everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The vibrant display of unity will be led by the VGK Stellenbosch Brigade, who will guide the walk through the historical streets of town, symbolising both visibility and accessibility for people with disabilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWalk with Disability\u201d offers a powerful platform for persons with disabilities, families, friends, and advocates to join hands (and feet) in celebrating the strides made toward inclusivity, while also highlighting areas for improvement in creating universally accessible spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Join the walk on Saturday 16 November at Stellenbosch Town Hall for an empowering day of awareness, celebration and community spirit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTogether, we can walk towards a future where everyone can participate fully in society, without barriers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
