Die jaarlikse Walk with Disability het Saterdag (16 November) weer by die Stellenbosch-stadsaal begin toe deelnemers deur die dorp beweeg het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nasionale bewusmakingsmaand van die regte van mense met gestremdhede word vandeesmaand gevier en ChangeAbility het die staptog aangebied om bewusmaking te skep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. <\/s1>Cindy Wiggett-Barnard, die uitvoerende hoof van ChangeAbility, het die deelnemers na afloop van die staptog bedank vir hul hulp om die inklusiwiteit en toeganklikheid van die dorp vir mense met gestremdhede uit te lig. Sy het die Stellenbosch-munisipaliteit bedank vir sy pogings om \u2019n meer inklusiewe dorp vir mense met gestremdhede met sy infrastruktuur, dienste en ontwikkelingsprojekte te skep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInklusiwiteit is nie \u2019n eindbestemming nie, maar eerder \u2019n reistog,\u201d s\u00ea Wiggett-Barnard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Richardo Lodewyk, \u2019n portuur-ondersteuner vir ChangeAbility, was een van die voorstappers in die staptog. Hy s\u00ea daar is nog baie werk om te doen om mense met gestremdhede hul volwaardige plek in die samelewing te gee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHierdie maand is nie net \u2019n tyd vir nadink nie, maar ook om aksie te neem waar ons streef om \u2019n inklusiewe omgewing te skep waar elkeen met \u2019n gestremdheid sonder struikelblokke kan leef. Opvoeding is \u2019n belangrike deel hiervan. Ek spoor almal aan om die witskrif oor die regte van mense met gestremdhede na te gaan. Jy het regte en julle moet vertroud raak met die regte \u2013 niks vir ons sonder ons nie,\u201d s\u00ea Lodewyk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Byna 400 mense het vanjaar deelgeneem, insluitend mense met gestremdhede, gemeenskapswerkers, raadslede asook vriende en familie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
