The award underscores how the Stellenbosch soil and climate create an undeniable perfect setting where world-class cabernet sauvignon takes shape under the expert guidance of top winemakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This exceptional approach is evident in the alluring dark crimson Garland 2020. Interweaving values of tradition and family with unique terroir and excellence in wine growing, the wine is produced from personally selected cabernet sauvignon vines growing on ancient, weathered granite soils high up on the slopes of the Simonsberg. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Simonsig proudly stands among just 27 category-winning wines featured in this year\u2019s prestigious Platter\u2019s Wine Guide. Earning an outstanding 97 points \u2013 the highest score in this category \u2013 the wine\u2019s exceptional quality is further highlighted by remarks from Platter\u2019s taster Fiona McDonald: \u201cThe imposing flagship, from elevated Simonsberg single-vineyard; 2020 follows last 2018 (4.5 stars, 94 points) in its fruit density, structure and composure. Layered and generous, cassis, fruitcake and spice among the scents and flavours, yet refined and silky. [It] feels effortless.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to Simonsig Family Vineyard\u2019s top-scoring cabernet sauvignon, other wines in its portfolio also received high praise. Those that garnered more than 90 points (4.5 stars) include Frans Malan Cape Blend 2021 (93 points), Langbult Steen 2023 (90 points), Redhill Pinotage 2021 (92 points), Tiara 2020 (93 points) and The Grapesmith Die Kluisenaar 2021 (94 points).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
