Twaalf jong fietsryers van Idasvallei, Cloetesville en Stellenbosch het die afgelope Sondag (8 Maart) die Kaapstad-fietstoer aangedurf en ten spyte van die seer spiere het hulle n\u00e1 die toer breed geglimlag.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Volgens Eon Hendrikse, wat aan die stuur van die plaaslike Idasvalley Trails is, was dit nie net ‘n groot oomblik vir die klub nie, maar ook ‘n wesenlike voorbeeld van hoe fietsry jong manne bymekaar kan bring en na plekke neem waar baie van hulle nog nooit was nie. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die helfte van die fietsryers het die 42-km-toer aangepak, terwyl die ander helfte besluit het om die langer 109-km-roete te trap. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hendrikse (30 tot 34 jaar) het die 109-km-roete in 04:33:18 voltooi, maar is geklop deur Christopher Gelderblom (35 tot 39 jaar) wat die roete in 04:09:44 afgel\u00ea het. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tyler Visagie (o.23) het in 04:50:43 om die Kaapse Skeireiland getrap en Aurilo Matjan (35 tot 39 jaar) het die beste tyd van die groep vir die 109-km-rit in 04:08:34 aangeteken. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jerico Campher kon ongelukkig nie sy rit voltooi nie. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die groep wat die 42-km-rit aangepak het, was Teshwill Hendricks (o.17), wat di\u00e9 roete in 01:43:49 voltooi het. Wesley Adams (01:51:22), Francois Williams (05:28:44), William January (01:53:58), Ryan Adams (01:51:59) en Shiloh Olivier (01:43:49) was die res van die fietsryers. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hendrikse meen die tog kon nie moontlik gewees het sonder hul borge se steun nie. Hy bedank onder meer TTEC, Daytrippers, Freelance Shuttles en Leonardo van Onselen van Flandria Cycles.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hy voeg by die meeste van die groep manne ry nie net vir fisieke welstand nie, maar ook sielkundige welstand. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hendrikse s\u00ea ‘n “bum in the seat is a bum off the street”. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gelderblom het ook die tog aangepak vir “vrede in Cloetesville” en om ander jongmense te inspireer om weg te bly van misdaad en bendegeweld. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Hy [Gelderblom] wil die geleentheid gebruik om ander jongmense in die buurt te inspireer. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Ons doel as ‘n span is om die kollig op ons fietsryprojek in die res van Stellenbosch te werp, want die dorp word as die mekka van fietsry beskou, maar plaaslike gemeenskappe kry min ondersteuning om fietsry te bevorder,” verduidelik Hendrikse.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
‘n Deel van die vieringe van die manne se voltooiing van die fietstoer was ‘n gelukwensing van Stellenbosch se eerste burger, Jeremy Fasser, vandeesweek. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
