CAPE TOWN \u2013<\/strong> A groundbreaking science-theatre production that has captivated Johannesburg audiences is set to make its Cape Town debut this December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hidden Giants<\/em>, an innovative show combining astrophysics, live music and immersive storytelling, will run at The Star Theatre in the Homecoming Centre<\/a> from Thursday 11 to Sunday 14 December. The production has already achieved more than 30 sold-out performances in Gauteng.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Created by physicist Dr Luca Pontiggia and composer-actuary Yasheen “Yash” Modi, the 90-minute show uses the world’s first photograph of a black hole as a launching point to explore cosmic mysteries through live performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This isn’t just a show; it’s a voyage into the universe and into ourselves,” said Pontiggia. “We’ve designed it for everyone – from children and students to thinkers and dreamers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Understanding the Universe<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The production transforms complex astrophysical concepts into accessible entertainment through what creators describe as “cinematic visuals” and sound design that simulates gravitational forces. The show aims to make audiences “feel the gravitational pull of deep space,” according to promotional materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modi explained their broader mission: “Our goal with Universe on Stage<\/a> is to explore our understanding of the Universe, presenting it in a way that evokes both the intellectual and the emotional.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Cape Town run represents the show’s expansion beyond Gauteng, where audiences have described it as “spellbinding” and “a symphony of science and emotion”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Cape Town audiences are passionate about art, science, and innovation – and this show brings all three together,” Modi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Igniting curiosity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The production targets families with children over age eight, as well as teachers seeking to inspire scientific curiosity. Organisers recommend the show for “curious minds and creative thinkers” and “date-night adventurers looking for something unforgettable”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hidden Giants <\/em>will run at The Star Theatre in District Six, with evening performances on Thursday and Friday at 19:00 and matine\u00e9 shows on Saturday and Sunday at 14:00. Tickets range from R260 to R540 through Webtickets.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
