Boland College<\/a>, in partnership with GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Internationale Zusammenarbeit)<\/a>, hosted its Digital Economy Employer Breakfast recently, a morning that celebrated collaboration, innovation, and the power of digital transformation in education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Far more than just a networking event, the gathering marked a milestone in the TVET college\u2019s journey to reimagine education for the modern world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As technology reshapes industries and employability, Boland College continues to position itself at the forefront of digital innovation, one of only a few institutions in South Africa selected by GIZ to pilot the Career Guidance Virtual Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership is both an honour and a testament to Boland College\u2019s reputation for excellence, adaptability, and visionary leadership. It reinforces the college\u2019s commitment to equipping students with not only technical expertise, but also the digital confidence, creativity, and purpose to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event brought together guests from the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET)<\/a>, industry, and fellow TVET colleges, all exploring how digital innovation can enhance employability and bridge the gap between classroom learning and workplace readiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

INVESTMENT STRATEGY<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Nozipho Khumalo, deputy director for Lecturer Support Systems at DHET, delivered a message of encouragement that resonated deeply with the audience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her passion for advancing the TVET sector was evident as she emphasised the importance of empowering students and lecturers, and ensuring that differently abled students are meaningfully included in the journey toward digital transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen we invest in a student, we invest in a future leader. When we support a lecturer, we strengthen an entire community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inspiring keynote address was delivered by Hein Wagner, executive director of the Hein Wagner Academy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘PLAYING FIELD LEVELLED’<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Blind since birth, Wagner\u2019s life story and message underscored the limitless potential of technology to create opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTechnology has levelled the playing field,\u201d he said. \u201cIn the digital world, ability is measured by imagination, drive and learning, not by limitations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The uplifting tone of the morning was further enriched by a soulful musical performance from Lulutho Daniso of Boland College\u2019s Stellenbosch campus, a creative reminder that the digital era is not only about data and devices, but also about human connection, creativity, and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
