The Rotary Club of Stellenbosch officially inducted Laurence Chambers as its 88th president during its annual Induction Dinner.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was held at La Pineta restaurant last Tuesday (1 \u2009July). In his opening address Chambers expressed his commitment to building on the foundation laid by past president Stuart Hunter and fellow Rotarians.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said his vision for the upcoming year is to emphasise the club’s continued focus on community service and humanitarian initiatives. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the nearly 90 years of the club’s existence its members have been involved in various projects. Now annual blanket drives are held, local learners receive eye-care and many children in early-childhood development are benefitting from the club’s work.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chambers also announced a new board for the new year, who will work together to drive the club’s mission and objectives. It comprises Monique Labat, John Whitehead, Chris van der Leij, John Whall as well as Jackie and Stuart Hunter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with welcoming the new board, there were also awards and recognition to bestow.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Past president Stuart Hunter presented the Rotarian of the Year Award to Labat, acknowledging her dedication and commitment to the club’s activities and initiatives. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An annual highlight is the presentation of the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Award. This year it is shared by husband and wife Stuart and Jackie Hunter, recognising their outstanding contributions to Rotary and community service.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rotary Club of Stellenbosch extended its heartfelt gratitude to the staff and management of La Pineta for their exceptional hospitality and contribution to the success of the evening.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
