Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) in Cape Town will temporarily close its operations for annual maintenance from Monday, 28 July to 3 August 2025. All commercial activity at the upper and lower stations will be closed to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This planned shutdown is part of TMACC\u2019s ongoing commitment to safety, reliability, and excellence in service. Each year, the Cableway undergoes routine inspections and essential upgrades to ensure the system continues to operate to the highest international safety standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe annual shutdown is a critical part of our operational calendar,\u201d says Selma Hercules, Executive Director of TMACC. \u201cIt allows us to carry out key maintenance tasks that ensure the safety of our visitors and staff, and the continued efficiency of our world-class operation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Important notice for hikers:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n While the mountain itself remains open to outdoor enthusiasts; hikers and climbers should note that all facilities at the summit and base stations will be closed during the shutdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This includes VIEWS by De Grendel, TEN67 Eatery, KLOUD Bar, TAP Bar, the Shop at the Top and other retail outlets as well as the ablution facilities. As the cable cars will be completely out of commission, no trips up or down will take place, so hikers must prepare to return down on foot.
