Five graduates from local high schools have set off on a journey furthering their studies in hospitality and tourism at the South African College for Tourism in Graaff-Reinet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Miqual Dampies, Abenathi Xaki (both from Strand Secondary School), Zandvliet High School\u2019s Jazzmin Fredericks and Simanyene Secondary School\u2019s Esethu Mnyanda and Lwando Dana have been awarded bursaries to the college through The Imibala Trust. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a statement from the trust, it was granted the opportunity to recruit five candidates for bursaries to the college for this academic year. \u201cOf the eight high schools the trust works with, four were asked to put forward the names of learners with an interest in hospitality or tourism,\u201d it states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cProspective candidates were selected by the schools and attended an information session. From that group, the final five were identified through an application and interview process. This is a real feather in the cap of the consumer studies and tourism departments at the schools and their teachers. They have produced students who were ready for a pipeline opportunity into the world of life after school. Commendation is also due to the supportive families.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The students, who all passed Grade 12 last year, travelled to Graaff-Reinet by bus last week to start the next chapter of their lives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
