The under-18A girls\u2019 hockey team of Parel Vallei High School bagged the bronze medal at the annual SPAR Hockey Challenge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 39 teams from Boland and Western Province vied for the spoils throughout the prestigious tournament, with PV locking horns with Curro Durbanville (won 4-1), Montagu (won 5-0), St Cyprians (drew 0-0) and De Kuilen (won 8-0) on Sunday 12 May. They ended second in their pool and advanced to final round, played at Paarl Gimnasium on Wednesday 15 May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Here they faced Rhenish (drew 0-0), Bellville (won 4-0) and Springfield (won 1-0) to finish at the top of the pool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the semi-final, the girls came up against Stellenberg and played to a 1-1 stalemate. The encounter went into \u201cshowdowns\u201d and the team eventually lost the outing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
