Two accomplished Somerset West netball enthusiasts have been selected to conduct volunteer duty at the Netball World Cup in Cape Town and are excited about the opportunity to interact, mingle and be part of the spectacle, which takes place from Friday 28 July to Saturday 5 August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vivienne Kearns and Johlene Pietersen, both very involved with netball development, expressed elation and eagerness to have been chosen for the various duties key to making the event memorable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pietersen has been involved in netball for well over 30 years. The primary school teacher is a Cape Town Netball coach convener who served in the executive committee of Cape Town Primary and High Schools Netball and is a reputable netball coach of children in primary school right up to seniors at varsity level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s really an honour to be part of the Netball World Cup,\u201dshe declared, \u201cand although I have not yet been delegated specific duties I am looking forward to the entire experience and will do my best to make my community and my country proud.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Vivienne Kearns is a past Cape Town Netball executive-committee member who served for 10 years, was Southern Stings manager for six years, SA provisional senior manager for 12 years, Western Cape senior manager for three years, SA Proteas Fast Five manager for three years and is currently affiliated with Cape Winelands netball in the Paarl district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She too expressed enthusiasm and appreciation for the opportunity. \u201cThis is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I am immensely grateful to be a part of the Netball World Cup,\u201d Kearns said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her duties will encompass arranging schedules for at least seven international teams, including New Zealand, Australia and England, and arranging their daily activities as well as responding to managerial requests.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
