D\u00edt is waarvoor \u2019n moeder van Strand hoop nadat haar seuntjie wonderbaarlik \u2019n byna-verdrinking oorleef het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Di\u00e9 voorval het hom verlede Sondag (30 Junie) by hul woning in die Southfork-gemeenskap afgespeel en die driejarige Micah Henry se oorlewing word as \u2019n wonderwerk bestempel. Die klein vegter sterk nou tuis aan nadat hy Woensdag (3 Julie) uit die hospitaal ontslaan is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sy ma, Lithe, vertel dat \u2019n rustige middag van samesyn met familie en vriende vir hul gesin byna in die grootste nagmerrie ontaard het toe die peuter deur sy 11-jarige sussie in die swembad aangetref is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOns het in die agterplaas gebraai. Ek het besig geraak met die kos. Micah was onder die kinders wat in en rondom die huis saam gespeel het,\u201d onthou sy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNet toe ons later wou loop, vra ek my dogter om te kyk waar Micah is, want ek sien hom nie. Toe hoor ek haar gil.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens die ouer het sy onmiddellik uitgehardloop en op \u2019n hartverskeurende prentjie afgekom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEk het geskreeu \u2018die kind is in die water!\u2019 en na my man geroep, wat reeds buite in die straat was,\u201d <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

het \u2019n emosiebelaaide Lithe met \u2019n stem wat breek ges\u00ea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sy vertel voorts dat haar dogter Micah met die hulp van \u2019n ander bystander uit die water gehaal het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Danksy die flink reaksie van naasbestaandes en gemeenskapslede, insluitend \u2019n ramprisikobestuur-vrywilliger en paramedikus, sowel as hospitaalpersoneel wat dadelik tot reddingsaksie oorgegaan het, het die seuntjie wonderbaarlik \u2019n tragiese waterdood vrygespring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volgens Faeez Rhoda het sy 19-jarige seun, Ameer Suhail, wat as vrywilliger vir die Stad Kaapstad se ramprisikobestuur dien, op die voorval gereageer en hom na die toneel gehaas. Rhoda werk al langer as twee dekades as paramedikus en is deur ER24 aangestel. \u201cMet my aankoms op die toneel was my seun besig met kardiopulmon\u00eare resussitasie (KPR). Saam het ons ongeveer 50 minute lank KPR toegepas en ook \u2019n sakklepmasker (BVM) gebruik om suurstof in die seun se longe te kry voordat ander hulpbronne en nooddienspersoneel opgedaag het,\u201d het Rhoda ges\u00ea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDit is \u2019n gevoel wat jy eenvoudig nie kan beskryf nie wanneer jy voel en hoor dat jou pasi\u00ebnt weer asemhaal. Dit is so skaars om spontane sirkulasie (ROSC) terug te kry by iemand wat byna verdrink het en ongeveer 15 minute onder water was, om nie eens te praat van \u2019n driejarige nie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn my 20-plus jare as \u2019n paramedikus het dit nog net drie keer met my gebeur waar \u2019n kleuter van \u2019n byna verdrinking oorleef het.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kritiek<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Jermaine Carelse, \u2019n woordvoerder vir die Stad Kaapstad se brandweer-en-reddingsdienste, is personeel omstreeks 17:35 na die toneel ontbied. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c \u2019n Span van die Strand-brandweerstasie het om 17:45 op die toneel aangekom en ander mediese personeel bygestaan,\u201d het hy ges\u00ea. \u201cDie toestand van die manlike minderjarige was kritiek en hy is per ER24-ambulans na die hospitaal vervoer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Micah is in \u2019n kritieke toestand in die Tygerberg-hospitaal opgeneem, waar hy op lewensondersteuning geplaas is. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mediese personeel het oor die drie dae wat gevolg het, alles in hul vermo\u00eb gedoen om hom aan die lewe te hou.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMicah se toestand het verbeter, met tekens dat sy breinreaksie sterk is. Die dokters het hom Maandag 1 Julie van die ventilator afgehaal en hy het self asemgehaal,\u201d het Lithe ges\u00ea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hoewel daar nie tekens van breinskade is nie, het dokters Lithe gewaarsku dat Micah dalk nie dieselfde sou wees nie, maar ten spyte van \u2019n bietjie aanvanklike verwarring, is Micah \u2019n prentjie van gesondheid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Met DistriksPos & Helderberg Gazette <\/em>se besoek aan die familietuiste Maandagmiddag (8 Julie), het hy met \u2019n hartlike glimlag gespog. Hy was ooglopend bly om met sy gesin herenig te wees \u2013 \u2019n tipiese seunskind wat gespeel en gelag het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Op \u2019n vraag hoe sy voel dat haar bulletjie die voorval oorleef het en weer onder haar vlerk is, het Lithe haar blydskap uitgespreek. \u201cEk het nog nooit so hard gebid nie. Ons is dankbaar vir elke dag saam met hom en hoop vir sy volkome herstel,\u201d het sy aangevoer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lithe het verder gedeel dat haar seuntjie, wat die tweede jongste van vyf kinders is, net te lieflik is. \u201cHy is praterig, hou van speel en buite wees, en is op en af in die huis \u2013 nes ons hom ken.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bly<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Lithe het haar opregte dankie uitgespreek aan \u2019n ieder en \u2019n elk wat hulle te hulp gesnel en bygestaan het. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rhoda het ook sy blydskap dat Micah op die herstelpad is, uitgespreek. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEk was so bly; die trane het oor my gesig geloop. Daar is baie redes waarom mense in nooddienste werk, en dit is waarom ek gekies het om in hierdie bedryf te werk \u2013 om \u2019n verskil in mense se lewe te maak; om altyd daar te wees wanneer iemand in die gemeenskap wat siek of beseer is, hulp nodig het. Solank as wat ek kan help en \u2019n verskil kan maak, sal my passie vir my beroep vurig brand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hy het ook klem gel\u00ea op die waardevolle les wat ander uit di\u00e9 voorval kan leer en \u2019n beroep gedoen op mense met \u2019n swembad om bewus te wees van die risiko\u2019s, gevare en verantwoordelikhede wat daarmee gepaardgaan. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
