It was derby time early in the club cricket season, as Hottentots Holland Cricket Club (HHCC) took on neighbours Somerset West CC (SWCC) in their first Western Province 1B League encounter for the 2022-\u201923 season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game was scheduled for the Naval Sports Ground in Gordon\u2019s Bay but was moved to Radloff Park in Somerset West due a waterlogged outfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HHCC won the toss and decided to field, which proved to be an excellent choice as \u201cspin twins\u201d Mieftaah Oliver (4\/18) and Shameel Abels (4\/23) ripped through the SWCC batting order, dismissing them for 88 in less than 30 overs. Larry Morkel (33) top scored for SWCC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The total was far too low as HHCC romped to the target in less than 25 overs, in the process securing an important bonus-point victory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yaasien Railoun (29*) and Oliver (18) led their side to victory. For SWCC, Nigel Dirks returned figures of 24\/3 and Eugene Geldenhuys 19\/2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The HHCC third team travelled to Manenberg to face Sherwood Manenberg CC in the WP 3B League on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visitors won the toss and batted first, amassing a massive 269\/3 in their allotted 35 overs. Rashaad Salie (146) was in sublime form with the willow as he completely dismantled the bowlers and dispatched them to all parts of the ground. He was well supported by Uthmaan Sha (46). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The total proved too much for the visitors as the HHCC bowlers bowled them all out for 89. Shuaib Salie, Yusuf Stuart and Ebrahim Arnold all bagged two wickets each. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both the HHCC second and women\u2019s team\u2019s matches were cancelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This coming weekend, all HHCC teams will be on the road, as the first team takes on Montrose, the seconds lock horns with Durbanville, thirds play Kuils River and the women face Strandfontein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The HHCC first team has also qualified for the AMA20 semi-final, where they will face SWCC at a date and venue yet to be confirmed by Western Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
