The Boland Islamic Women\u2019s League (BICWL) celebrated Women\u2019s Day with an amazing \u201cMad Hatters High Tea\u201d event that coincided with its 26th-anniversary celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event, hosted at Dr GJ Joubert Primary School in Strand on Sunday 11 August, not only celebrated women, but was also a fundraiser to assist the BICWL 2024 beneficiary, Tygerberg Hospital\u2019s Oncology Department. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The high tea was attended by 350 women, who travelled from Cape Town, Paarl, Stellenbosch, Eerste River, Blackheath, Kraaifontein, Macassar, Sandvlei, Gorodon\u2019s Bay, Somerset West and Strand to attend this auspicious occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An emotional outpouring of love and support was evident during the celebration of cancer survivors, who were honoured with a small gift as well as a standing ovation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe event was very successful and indeed very enjoyable,\u201d commented Sumaya Gabier of the BICWL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Najma Rhoda entertained guests with her beautiful voice and the highlight was when BICWYL handed a cheque of R25 000 to the Head of the Tygerberg Hospital Oncology Department, Dr Henriette Burger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was extremely grateful and in her speech acknowledged there was a great need for funds and this gesture was indeed a blessing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organising committee of BICWL was also handed certificates of appreciation along with bouquets of flowers as a token of acknowledgement of all the effort made in ensuring the smooth running of all BICWL events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want to thank all our hostesses and sponsors who contributed to the success of this event,\u201d said Gabier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
