{"id":45359,"date":"2024-08-28T04:00:21","date_gmt":"2024-08-28T02:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/districtmailhelderberg\/focus-on-dementia-20240827-3\/"},"modified":"2025-03-21T12:51:12","modified_gmt":"2025-03-21T10:51:12","slug":"focus-on-dementia-20240827-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/novanews.co.za\/districtmailhelderberg\/focus-on-dementia-20240827-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Focus on Dementia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>September is Alzheimer\u2019s Awareness Month and Livewell Care in Somerset West is hosting a seminar in partnership with Association for Dementia and Alzheimer\u2019s of South Africa (ADASA) on Saturday 14 September, to share valuable information on various aspects of Dementia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Family members, friends, carers, nursing staff and other role-players who are involved with people living with dementia are welcome to attend the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proceeds of the seminar will go towards ADASA to ensure sustainability, provide guidance and support to families with people living with dementia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme entails: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Arrival and registration from 08:30 to 09:00; welcome by ADASA regional manager sister Madelein Duvenhage at 08:55;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Session 1: Dementia, diagnosis and medical treatment options \u2013 Dr Deon Greyling, physician, at 09:00;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Session 2: Caring for the patients and the carers \u2013 neuropsychologist Arya Rabbipal at 10:00; tea break at 11:00;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Session 3: Legal matters, curatorship, and so forth \u2013 lawyer Andries Havenga, at 11:30;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Session 4: Meaningful engagement in Dementia \u2013 Occupational therapist Lou-Ann van Heerden at 12:30; closing at 13:30.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span><strong>Tickets can be booked online through Webtickets.
