Helderberg-based construction company CSV Construction will host the \u201cBuild a dream\u201d soccer tournament this Saturday (14 September) at Gustrouw Sports Grounds as part of their ongoing commitment to community engagement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company, known for its involvement in various community projects, such as soup kitchens, golf days and an academy that assists high school learners with tuition, is using this event to give back to the local community\u2019s youths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Annes van Geems, Construction Manager at CSV Construction, emphasised the company\u2019s dedication to social responsibility. \u201cWe are involved with various community projects and contribute towards NGOs such as Helderberg Hospice, PATCH and the Stroke Association,\u201d he said. \u201cGiven our involvement in the Sir Lowry\u2019s Pass river upgrade, we felt it was important to give back to the community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The soccer tournament, which is open to under-13 and under-14 boys, is part of the company\u2019s Heritage Month celebrations. Eight primary schools have been invited to participate, including Loreto, Somerset West Methodist, Rusthof, El Marine, Dr GJ Joubert, Temperance Town and Altena. There is also an invitational mixed team consisting of children from Vlakteplaas and Sir Lowry\u2019s Pass Village. All participants will receive medals whilst the winners and runners-up will be awarded a trophy and hampers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Van Geems expressed the company\u2019s desire to provide young athletes with an opportunity to showcase their skills. \u201cWe want to give young kids the opportunity to star and show off their skills,\u201d he said. \u201cNext year we plan a much bigger tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the day, Hungry Lion will be sponsoring meals, and Aquelle will be providing sports drinks. Several other corporations are also involved as sponsors. Professional soccer team Stellenbosch FC will also be present to interact with and inspire the youth.
