Road accidents across the Helderberg over the past two weeks have left several people injured, raising concerns about road safety in the region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Authorities are urging drivers and pedestrians to be vigilant, adhere to traffic rules and take precautions to prevent further incidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The most recent accident occurred in Gordon\u2019s Bay Drive, Strand, when a motorcycle and light motor vehicle collided between Broadway Boulevard and Jan Bruin Street at 17:51 on Monday 18 November. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The motorcyclist and his passenger sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital. Maxine Bezuidenhout, spokesperson for the City of Cape Town\u2019s Traffic Services, confirmed police had recorded the accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just a few days earlier, on Saturday 16 November, a burst tyre caused a driver to lose control of his vehicle on the N2 outbound, just after Baden Powell Drive. The accident, which occurred around 16:30, resulted in slight injuries to the driver. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two days before, around 17:00, an 11-year-old boy from Casablanca, Strand, was struck by a silver Opel while running across Broadway Boulevard. The primary-school learner, who had been returning from the shop and was navigating heavy traffic, sustained a minor injury to his left arm. The driver of the vehicle and boy\u2019s mother, both visibly shaken, comforted each other after the collision. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Emergency services were immediately called to the scene by members of the Casablanca Neighbourhood Watch, who also informed the boy\u2019s family. The boy was taken to hospital for observation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier that week a vehicle carrying berries overturned on Sir Lowry\u2019s Pass at 16:30 on Tuesday (12 November). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The driver, a 32-year-old man from Grabouw, swerved to avoid an object in the road as he approached a bend. The vehicle rolled, spilling berries across two lanes and causing a traffic disruption. The driver sustained minor injuries to his left arm and was later transported to the hospital by his employer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Neither the City\u2019s Traffic Services nor the provincial traffic team responded to the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Monday 11 November another serious accident occurred on Sir Lowry\u2019s Pass Road in Gordon\u2019s Bay, when two vehicles collided head-on at 15:48. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One driver sustained serious injuries, while the other was lightly injured. The accident was recorded by the Gordon\u2019s Bay police, and the road was cleared by 16:23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
