‘n Begrafnisdiens word Saterdag (6 Junie) vir die driejarige Lavelle Prins, wat in ‘n tragiese ongeluk dood is, gehou.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die kleuter het aan sy beserings beswyk n\u00e1 die voorval wat Sondag (24 Mei) omstreeks 16:15 in Tiendestraat, Strand plaasgevind het.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Volgens sy ouers, Neville Prins en Monecia Lackay, het Lavelle op die sypaadjie oorkant hul woning by ‘n maatjie gespeel toe hy deur ‘n verbygaande voertuig getref is. Hy is meters ver geslinger deur die impak met die wit Golf GTi.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beeldmateriaal van ‘n naburige sekuriteitskamera wat die ouers bekom het, wys die voorval. Dit toon hoe die voertuig teen ‘n ho\u00eb spoed in die straat afkom en Lavelle in die pad tref.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lackay herroep dat sy by hul hek gestaan het om toesig te hou, maar net die oomblik wat sy haar draai om vinnig in te gaan, hoor sy die slag. “Ek het gegil en my gehaas tot by hom,” het sy vertel. “Hy het nie beweeg nie, hoewel hy nog lewend was.” \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Volgens die ouers het die bestuurder n\u00e1 die impak voortgery, teruggekeer en vir Lackay aanges\u00ea om die kind hospitaal toe te neem. “Ek het gereageer, ‘Jy moet ons hospitaal toe neem’,” het Lackay herroep.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Daar is vermoedens dat die bestuurder dronk was, maar omdat die polisie nie op die toneel was nie, kon geen bloedtoetse gedoen word nie. “As hy 40 km\/h gery het, soos die wet in ‘n woonbuurt vereis, sou my dalk kind nog oorleef het.”\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lackay herroep voorts dat die bestuurder haar en Lavelle na Helderberg-hospitaal vervoer het, waar Prins by hulle aangesluit het en Lavelle later aan sy beserings beswyk het.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hoewel die uitslag van die lyk-\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
skouing nog nie beskikbaar is nie, meen die ouers hul seuntjie het sigbare beserings aan sy kop en lyf opgedoen.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die ouers het ‘n beroep op owerhede gedoen om geregtigheid vir hul seuntjie, wat vol energie en grappies was. Hy word veral onthou vir sy hartverwarmende glimlag en al die kattekwaad wat tipies van ‘n seuntjie was. “Ons soek geregtigheid vir ons kind \u2013 die bestuurder moet met tronkstraf vir ons verlies boet,” het Prins ges\u00ea. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Die Strand-polisie het bevestig ‘n saak van strafbare manslag word ondersoek en niemand is nog in hegtenis geneem nie.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
