The Strand Athletics Club advises of partial road closures along the R44 to accommodate the Balwin Properties False Bay 50, taking place on Saturday 2 May.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 50 km ultra-marathon will start at Kleinmond Primary School at 06:30, with runners trekking along the scenic Clarence Drive (R44) through Betty’s Bay, Pringle Bay, Rooi Els, and Kogel Bay, eventually finishing at Gordon’s Bay Primary School.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A newly introduced 10 km race will start and finish at Gordon’s Bay Primary School, allowing more participants to participate in the event while using a section of the same route.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To ensure the safety of runners, marshals and hydration station volunteers, authorities have approved a partial lane closure on the mountain side of the R44 between Rooi Els and Gordon’s Bay from 06:30 to 13:30. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Traffic will be accommodated in a controlled manner, with clear signage in place ahead of race day.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Residents of Gordon’s Bay, particularly those in Upper Watt Street, Kloof Road and Suikerbossie Road who need to return home before 13:30, are advised to use the Faure Marine Drive interchange, turning left towards their destination.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Motorists and other road users are urged to use the N2 alternative route via Sir Lowry’s Pass when travelling between the Helderberg and Overberg during this time. The R44 from Rooi Els towards Gordon’s Bay will remain open to controlled traffic flow.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
