The Gordon’s Bay Mall triple murder case has been postponed after a third suspect was charged.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Grant Schroeder (26), also a Kirstenhof resident, made his first appearance in the Strand Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday (25 February). \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He faces murder charges alongside Tyron October and Byron Dryer for the shootings of Keagan Potgieter, Yusuf Morris and Lee-Roy van Rooyen. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The three Kirstenhof men are accused of the killings that took place around 20:20 on Tuesday 27 January, when armed men allegedly drove into the shopping centre’s parking area. They allegedly targeted a stationary Toyota Corolla containing the three victims, opened fire and fled. Two of the men died from gunshot wounds while inside the vehicle, while a third was found fatally shot outside the car. It remains unclear which of the victims were in the vehicle.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The killings are believed to be gang-related, with the victims thought to be linked to a well-known Cape Flats gang.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident sparked a police manhunt that saw four people detained for questioning before their release after 48 hours. October and Dryer were arrested on Saturday 14 February, with Schroeder arrested later. He was officialy charged on Wednesday 25 February.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is unclear whether the three accused were among the four initially questioned and whether they have gang connections. The trio’s next court appearance is scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday 5 March), when they are expected to make bail applications.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
