Two men from Kirstenhof face murder charges for last month’s triple murder at Gordon’s Bay Mall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a Western Cape police statement, Tyron October (32) and Byron Dryer (36) made their first appearance in the Strand Magistrates’ Court on Monday 16 February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The pair are accused of opening fire on the victims while they were seated in a vehicle at the mall’s parking lot,” said provincial police spokesperson Colonel Andr\u00e8 Traut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A third person is also scheduled to appear in court at a later stage, the statement confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The triple murder occurred around 20:20 on Tuesday 27 January, when gunmen, now believed to include October and Dryer, allegedly entered parking area of the shopping in a vehicle. They approached a stationary Toyota Corolla with three occupants, opened fire and fled the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has now been confirmed via court documents that the victims are Keagan Potgieter, Yusuf Morris and Lee-Roy van Rooyen. Two of the victims succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained while inside the vehicle, while a third was found fatally wounded outside the car. It is unclear which of the deceased were found in the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shooting is believed to have been gang-related, with the trio believed to be affiliated with a well-known gang on the Cape Flats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident led to a manhunt which saw four people brought in for questioning, but they were ultimately released from police custody after 48 hours. October and Dryer were arrested this past Saturday (14 February).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is unclear whether the duo were part of the four who were brought in for questioning and whether they are affiliated to any gangs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

October and Dryer’s next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday 26 February, when they are expected to formally apply for bail. They remain in police custody.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
