Met Kersfees oor net twee weke het desperate Strandse toelaagontvangers voor die Strand-stadsaal bymekaargekom en geweier om te beweeg totdat amptenare van die Suid-Afrikaanse Maatskaplike Sekerheidsagentskap (Sassa) sommige se ses maande lange wag vir hulp be\u00ebindig.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ons kom die afgelope paar weke hierheen vir ons maatskaplike gestremdheidstoelaag,” het Barbara Pietersen Woensdag 26\u2009November op die trappe van die stadsaal ges\u00ea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

Daar word elke keer met ons meegedeel dat hulle ons nie weens ‘n gebrek aan personeel nie help nie.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Pietersen het vertel dat van die begunstigdes wat elke week in die lang lyne staan, datums ontvang om bygestaan te word. Hulle is ook meegedeel sy sou ‘n oproep van Sassa ontvang wanneer hulle moes kom, maar wanneer hul by die stadsaal aankom, word hulle toegang geweier.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Sommige van ons loop hierheen, maar elke keer word ons weggewys,” het Pietersen ges\u00ea.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sy het verduidelik dat geld van die toelaes na hul kinders en kleinkinders gaan. “Ons kan as gevolg van ons gestremdhede nie werk nie, dus het ons daardie geld nodig om kos op die tafel te sit,” het Pietersen ges\u00ea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marian Arnold het ges\u00ea haar stryd het in Junie begin, maar het dieselfde struikelblokke as Pietersen ervaar. “Hulle bly s\u00ea hulle het min personeel,” het Arnold ges\u00ea.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sy kom in die vroe\u00eb oggendure al by die stadsaal aan \u2013 net om weggewys te word, wat haar desperaatheid vir hulp om in lyn met Sassa-prosesse te bly, beklemtoon. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hulle het ges\u00ea ons mediese verslae verval binne ses maande. Dit is reg, maar is dit regverdig teenoor ons om skuld te moet aangaan om vir ons afsprake hierheen te kom?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Shivani Wahab, ‘n woordvoerder vir Sassa in die Wes-Kaap, het op die swak diensleweringsbewerings gereageer deur te s\u00ea Sassa Eersterivier en sy gekoppelde dienspunte, waarvan die Strand-stadsaal deel is, het ‘n afspraakstelsel.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Die begunstigdes wat op die dag bygestaan is, het vroe\u00ebr ‘n afspraak ontvang om die perseel op die spesifieke dag te besoek,” het Wahab ges\u00ea. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

Diegene wat die persele sonder afsprake besoek, sal afsprake ontvang om diensleweringskontinu\u00efteit te verseker.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Sy het verder verduidelik dat diegene wat om gestremdheidstoelaes aansoek doen, vir ‘n afspraak sal moet wag aangesien die boeke vir die jaar gesluit is. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Hierdie persone wat aansoek doen sal in die nuwe jaar moet terugkeer sodat die mediese assessering voltooi kan word,” het sy ges\u00ea.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wahab het verduidelik dat Arnold se situasie meer kompleks is en glo verdere ondersoek sal benodig. Sy het bygevoeg die Strand-dienspunt is vier dae per week \u2013 van Maandag tot Donderdag \u2013 oop. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elke soort toelae word spesifieke dae toegeken, met gestremdheidstoelaes wat op twee dae van die week geprioritiseer word. Maandae is vir oumenstoelaes; Donderdae vir kinderonderhoudstoelaes en Dinsdae en Woensdae vir gestremdheidstoelaes.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Die dienspunt het die afgelope Donderdag (4\u2009Desember) gesluit en heropen in die nuwe jaar. Die datums sal deur die Stad Kaapstad vir 2026 bevestig word,” het s\u00ea Wahab.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sy het beklemtoon dat die feestydperk nie die betaling van maatskaplike toelaes aan geskikte begunstigdes sal be\u00efnvloed nie, met die laaste betalings van die jaar wat verlede week op Dinsdag vir ouermenstoelaes, Woensdag vir gestremdheidstoelaes en Donderdag vir kindertoelaes uitbetaal is.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
