Die gemeenskapsorganisasie Macassar Our Pride het onlangs twee uitsonderlike plaaslike rolspelers in hul ateljee verwelkom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Kom Kuier Saam-aanbieders, Bernice Hendricks en Stuart Afrika, het onderskeidelik met Peter Wonci, die projekbeampte by die Field Band Foundation, en Chris Janneke, ko\u00f6rdineerder van die gemeenskapsentrum by Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM), gesels.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wonci, oorspronklik van Gqeberha, het vertel hoe sy passie vir musiek vroeg ontwikkel het toe hy en sy vriende sokker gespeel en na ‘n plaaslike orkes geluister het. Hy het in 1998 op 14-jarige ouderdom by die Field Band aangesluit en vinnig van gewone lid tot tutor, orkesko\u00f6rdineerder en uiteindelik projekbeampte gevorder.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nadat hy in 2006 gematrikuleer het, het hy na Johannesburg verhuis om by die Soweto Field Band aan te sluit. Sy talent het hom in 2007 ‘n plek in ‘n uitruilprogram na Noorwe\u00eb besorg. “Die organisasie het my waardevolle geleenthede gebied om met die jeug in verskeie provinsies te werk,” s\u00ea Wonci.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hy lei die Cape Whalers Field Band in Macassar, wat 125 lede het en verlede jaar die derde plek in ‘n nasionale kompetisie behaal het, al sedert 2022. Hy s\u00ea lidmaatskap is gratis en moedig jongmense aan: “Skool eerste \u2013 dit is jou wagwoord na alles. Assosieer jouself met positiewe dinge.”
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Janneke, ‘n inwoner van Deepfreeze, het sy loopbaan in die gasvry- heidsbedryf by die Lord Charles-hotel begin. In 2017 het hy ‘n sopkombuis gestig, wat steeds aktief is. “Ek kon nie verdra dat bejaardes medikasie gebruik sonder om ‘n behoorlike maaltyd te h\u00ea nie,” s\u00ea hy.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RDM het hom in 2023 genader om hul nuwe gemeenskapsentrum te ko\u00f6rdineer. Die sentrum help werkloses met rekenaarvaardighede, CV-opstelling en werksoekvaardighede. “Ons het reeds byna 200 werklose Macassar-inwoners geplaas,” s\u00ea Janneke trots. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ongeveer 500 mense besoek die sentrum maandeliks. Hulle beplan ook Macassar se eerste Loopbaanekspo op Mandeladag (18\u2009 Julie).\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charles Jackson van Macassar Our Pride voel ge\u00eberd om sulke uitsonderlike gaste te ontvang. “Hulle beeld ons doelwitte uit, wat jeugontwikkeling en gemeenskapsopheffing insluit.” \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die onderhoude sal binnekort op die organisasie se YouTube-kanaal gelaai word. “Skryf asseblief in op ‘Macassar Our Pride’ op YouTube om toegang te kry tot al ons onderhoude,” nooi Jackson almal uit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
