A 31-year-old security guard was shot and killed at Nombula Street in Asanda Village on Wednesday 2 March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is believed the guard was in the area to pick a colleague up when two assailants pounced. The incident occurred around 11:00 closer to the Nomzamo Clinic. The assailants are believed to have taken the guard\u2019s work firearm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lwandle police spokesperson Sgt Mthokozisi Gama said the guard was shot a few minutes after his colleague had entered his house. \u201cThe guard had come to pick up his colleague and he stepped outside the car,\u201d he said. \u201cThey had a conversation and the colleague informed the guard he would travel to work on his own. According to the security guard he heard a number of shots and when he went to investigate the guard (colleague) was on the ground. When police arrived on the scene the guard had passed away.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gama said the guard sustained bullet wounds to the upper body. He said police were investigating a murder case. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
