Look at God (LAG) hosted its inaugural awards at the Drama Factory in Somerset on Sunday 27 February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Look at God Music Awards (LAGMA), the brainchild of LAG founder Yandisa Magagana, are designed to show appreciation to local artists and encourage them to do more. LAG is a company dedicated at encouraging fashion, education and a range of social issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Magagana said the event went according to plan and those who attended came prepared. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event saw different artists performing on the stage while others left smiling after being recognised for their good work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Magagana said he hoped the music awards will uplift music in the area and inspire upcoming artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A total of 50 people were nominated in 18 categories including the best choir of the year, song of the year, best DJ, best new comer and best male and females to name a few.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Magagana said the day was for artists to be \u201cappreciated for their craft\u201dand also be \u201cacknowledged\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt is very important to acknowledge people for their work, as that motivates them to do more. A lot of people run to art to escape from daily evils, so validation means a lot,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Magagana said they were already looking forward to next year\u2019s awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the winners, philanthropist of the year, Vuyiseka Bobotyana, said the award made her smile throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
