Outraged Village 4a residents, in Browns Farm, are calling for an immediate fencing of an open field used to dump the body of a 16-year-old girl over the weekend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say the field is a notorious site, synonymous with murders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nearly two years ago, the field made headlines when the body of Amahle Quku (17) was discovered there (\u201cCommunity mourns\u201d City Vision,<\/span> 25 June 2020). She had been raped and murdered. <\/p>\n\n\n\n On Sunday 13 March another body was discovered on the spot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n According to witnesses, the corpse had no blood traces, something they say suggested she was dumped at the site. Residents say the area has long reeds, making it easy for evildoers to perform their acts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n A 43-year-old woman, who was at the scene, said the victim was found with her clothes still on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cShe was wearing a pink top and white shorts. There was no blood on the scene and all that was missing were her shoes. I believe she was strangled or killed somewhere before being dumped here on this spot.\u201d The woman refused to give her name for fear of being victimised. \u201cWe appeal to authorities to fence this area off, to prevent such evil people continuing their evil ways. This is the same area Amahle was dumped in, and there was also a man\u2019s body found here,\u201d said the woman, calling for the clearing of the site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Another resident, known only as \u201cMike\u201d, called for perpetrators to be brought to book. \u201cJustice needs to play its part and harshly sentence the culprits of this crime,\u201d he said. \u201cThe young girl is familiar and I believe her friends may know, or else are aware of where they had left her. It is horrendous to find bodies lying in the open without knowing what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Provincial police spokesperson W\/O Joseph Swartbooi said Nyanga police attended to the scene around 08:00. \u201cOn arrival they found the body of a 16-year-old girl,\u201d he said. \u201cThe victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. The motive for the attack is unknown.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Swaartbooi said an autopsy would be conducted to determine the cause of death.
