Slippery and slightly dangerous conditions did not dampen the spirit of Exinity Velokhaya team that participated in the Cape Town Cycle Tour on Sunday 13 March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Four members of the team that hails from Khayelitsha finished in the first 100 overall out of over 20 000 participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cape Town Cycle Tour is an annual cycle race hosted in Cape Town, usually 109 km long. It is the first event outside Europe to be included in the Union Cycliste Internationale\u2019s Golden Bike Series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Velokhaya board member Luthando Kaka told City Vision<\/span> it was a relief for their bikers to finally get back to racing track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOur kids were excited and relieved that the Cape Town Cycle Tour was taking place once again. Remember, there hasn\u2019t been many races and that means fewer the races, it is bound to affect our bikers form,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe day was very challenging as it was a raining weather. That meant times were slower as it was slippery and the guys were more cautious than before,\u201d said Kaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said though the condition were \u201cslightly dangerous\u201d his young talented team showed up on the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Velokhaya club has about 70 members supported by Pick \u2018n Pay through its education and feeding programs after school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The daunting
