Harare Community Policing Forum (CPF) has called on communities to be \u201chonest\u201d and stop hiding criminals that are terrorising communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is after six people were shot and killed at Enkanini informal settlement on Sunday afternoon 20 March. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident comes hot on the heels of another gruesome killing where five people were shot and killed<\/a> at New Monwabisi Park, Endlovini on Monday14 March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week\u2019s shooting prompted Minister of Police, Bheki Cele, to visit the area on Thursday 17 March where a Crime Prevention Imbizo was held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is believed the six died in a hail of bullets after culprits, driving a private car opened five and killed five instantly, while one died at hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CPF chair Funeka Soldaat said the recent shooting is \u201csad and shocking\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe really need all spheres of government to work together in fighting crime in our areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey need to put their differences aside and create a conducive environment where policing can take place,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe can have as much neighbourhood watch members on the ground, but their job is to deal with petty crimes not something like this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think as communities, it is high time to be honest with ourselves. People that are committing crime are known and need to be reported to authorities or else we will always be on the receiving end,\u201d said Soldaat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Provincial police spokesperson Brig Novela Potelwa said crime scene experts visited the crime scene on Sunday to search for clues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cReports from the scene indicate that three unknown gunmen fired shots randomly at the victims in Lindela Road in the Enkanini informal settlement at approximately 16:10. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter being alerted to the shooting incident, police arrived and found the bodies of the five victims strewn across two scenes that are 200 metres apart. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA sixth person died on arrival at a medical facility. The yet to be identified victims, comprising of two women and four men are estimated the ages of 22 and 27,\u201d said Potelwa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police have opened murder cases that will be investigated by organised crime detectives, she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
