Blessed is the hand that gives because it will receive abundantly, that was evident as members of Siyakhula Soup Kitchen at Europe informal settlements in Gugulethu received porridge packets from the Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament, Masizole Mnqasela, on Wednesday 23 March. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Founder of the kitchen Zodumo Duli-Mkinase described Mnqasela\u2019s intervention as a blessing in disguise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said the packets will make a difference to the children that they are feeding in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are very pleased with the packets of porridge that we received today and we wish more could come. We are appealing to other organisations to assist us with whatever they can,\u201d said Duli-Mkinase. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Siyakhula, which caters for hundreds of needy people around Gugulethu, was hailed for making the difference in the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Established in April last year, the kitchen provides meals three times a day, seven days a week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mnqasela described his donation as part of the \u2018war on hunger\u2019 programme which is being conducted in the province. \u201cI made a donation of R5 000 worth of food relief which includes nutritious vitamin porridge. This is a little intervention that I can do to support the soup kitchen. I\u2019ve been doing this programme since the beginning of Covid-19 lockdown,\u201d said Mnqasela, urging other businesses to come on board. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
