Nyanga Community Policing Forum (CPF) has condemned the fatal shooting of an elderly woman in Nyanga on Thursday evening 16 June at her house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lucy Nomzi Piyose-Ngcobo (65) is believed to have been killed by two gunmen who stormed her house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is believed she went to open the door after a knock, and in no time gunshots rang out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She died at her bedroom door while trying to escape from the attackers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nyanga CPF Secretary Dumisani Qwebe said they condemn the brutal killing of an elderly woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe do not agree on taking other people\u2019s lives under any circumstances. Whatever happens between children should not affect their parents,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe advise people to rather go to the police station and open a case than taking the law unto themselves. We call on police to follow any leads on this matter so that perpetrators are brought to book,\u201d said Qwebe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the area of Nyanga did not need such spilling of blood as it has been under microscope for many years as the murder capital in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Qwebe said they were pleased to see the tag of being the country\u2019s murder capital slowly disappearing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, he said such incidents affected efforts to improve Nyanga\u2019s image. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Col Andr\u00e8 Traut, Western Cape police spokesperson, said on Thursday 16 June at around 20:30 a 65-year-old woman was shot and killed at her residence in Ramone Road Mau-Mau Nyanga by unknown suspects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
No one has yet been arrested in connection with the shooting and the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
