As the probe into the fire that claimed the lives of three family members in Nyanga continues, funeral arrangements are also continuing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday 16 July, the bodies of Motlale Khotso Daniels (49) and his two children Rebaba Letsoe (11) and Karabelo (7), left Cape Town for a funeral in the Eastern Cape town of Aliwal North where they will be laid to rest on Saturday 23 July. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trio burned beyond recognition during a shack fire on Saturday 2 June<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview with City Vision<\/em><\/span> ahead of the departure for the remains, Nkosikhona Mafenuka, chair of the South African National Civics Organisation (SANCO) in Ward 38, said the incident left the community heartbroken. He described seeing the three coffins lined up outside the family home as devastating. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs the community members we were there to give the family moral support. And we want to tell them that their loss is our loss. It is painful, especially to the deceased\u2019s wife,\u201d said Mafenuka. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time of the incident, the wife was attending a funeral in the Eastern Cape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mafenuka stated that the community is pleased that the bodies left for the Eastern Cape. \u201cThings are going to be better now that they left with the bodies. Many families are struggling to transport their loved ones for burial in their homelands and they end up burying them here. We are hoping that everything will go well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acting Nyanga Police Station Commander Col Siphiwo Sithonga said an inquest docket has been opened and the case is still under investigation. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
