Local residents are appealing for a speedy investigation into the kidnapping and subsequent killing of a renowned doctor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The doctor, whose identity has been withheld, ran a surgery from a shipping container in Samora Machel and was dearly loved by the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to police report, the doctor was kidnapped from his surgery on Thursday 21 July. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
His body was later found the same day in the boot of his car at Barcelona informal settlement in Gugulethu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gugulethu Police Station spokesperson Sgt Sindisiwe Ngqele said a murder case has been opened. Police were informed by the community about an abandoned car without a registration number at Barcelona, said Ngqele. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOn the arrival police saw a Yaris.When they opened the boot they saw a plastic bag with the body of a man (39) and his hands were tied. While on the scene the deceased\u2019s colleague arrived and identified him as his boss,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ngqele urged witnesses with vital information to come forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The news came as a shock to the local community and residents are appealing to the law enforcement agencies to leave no stone unturned in their quest to find the culprits. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Samora Machel Community Policing Forum spokesperson Bongani Maqungwana described the killing as \u201cunfortunate\u201d for the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe sad thing is that the incident happened in front of the deceased\u2019s employees.
