Staff and learners from Noluthando School for the Deaf were in high spirits when the school officially opened its library on Thursday 28 July. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is hoped that the fully equipped library will boost the learners\u2019 academic performance. Noluthando, based in Site B, is a special school for learners with hearing impairments and autism and works with learners from many communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The facility has been sponsored by Breadline Africa, a children\u2019s charity based in Cape Town. They provide educational infrastructure to support early childhood development in the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
School principal Ayanda Ncinane expressed his excitement, stating that the library will fulfil the school\u2019s vision to empower the children with knowledge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe children will have ample time to study on their own. Also they will be able to improve their reading and writing skills, and by reading they will be able to learn how to construct sentences and paragraphs,\u201d he explained and expressed gratitude towards Breadline Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ncinane stated that their intention is to turn the school into a resource centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe regard Noluthando as a resource centre where the surrounding communities can come and do whatever they want to. Even the library will open it for the public when the time is right but for now it is only catering for learners,\u201d he explained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Member of School Governing Body (SGB) Ntombizanele Mlungu said it is a great honour for the school to have a library. She promised that the school will take care of the facility to ensure that the next generation of learners benefit from it. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
