A brick and mortar building to accommodate 1 400 learners from Lwandle is under construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is hoped that the technical high school facility, which will bring smiles to residents of this community, will alleviate the burden carried by the three local high schools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lwandle and Nomzamo have combined seven primary schools. This reportedly puts a lot of pressure on the existing high schools, with some learners unable to get places. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bronagh Hammond, Director of Communication in the Western Cape Education Department, said the technical high school is currently in design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe WCED is placing mobiles on site in the interim. The learners in the mobiles will move to the new technical high school when the brick and mortar school is complete,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hammond said the technical high school will accommodate 1 400 students. She said the staff establishment, as well as, the formation of the SGB will be determined once the school is ready to be occupied. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe mobile completion is anticipated at the end of October (this year,\u201d she said. The facility will be consisted of 10 classroom,two admin blocks, a staff room, two ablutions, a feeding kitchen and three storage containers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hammond said there was a great need for high school places within the Lwandle and Nomzamo community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said the WCED is also prioritising skills development for the future \u2013 technical skills are valued and needed skills in terms of the Western Cape Economy, so, the WCED is expanding skills development opportunities for the Lwandle community. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
