Young female maskandi artist from Langa released her first new album titled \u2018Ndisebenza Kanzima\u2019 in April. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Busisiwe Piyose (29) described her 11-song album as a must-have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Piyose, who is affectionately known as Nosabe in the music circle, said being a female artist in the male-dominated field is no child\u2019s play. She said music is in her genes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI grew up singing like any child at school. Then, in 2009, I relocated from Mthatha to Saldanha Bay where I joined a local group called Mkhukhu Production Group. We sang Afro Soul and Hip-Hop. We were one of the best groups in the area,\u201d she stated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2013, she moved to Cape Town where she stayed for six months before returning to the Eastern Cape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2017, Nosabe returned to Cape Town in search of greener pastures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMid-last year, I met another artist known as Ntlavuzelanga in Langa. He was singing at the Langa taxi rank. After his performance, I approached him and asked for help recording an album. He agreed and we started recording my album in December last year,\u201d she explained.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nosabe said she grew up listening to the music as her grandfather was an amateur artist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe love for the music came a long way. I grew up listening to maskandi as my grandfather was a well-known local artist in my area. I always wanted to be a prominent singer,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She described her music as a fusion of KwaZulu-Natal and AmaMpondo rhythm. She said she has been inspired by both popular maskandi artist Khuzani from KZN and the legendary Nkunz\u2019emdaka from the Eastern Cape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThose are my favorite artists which I believe made me love this music. All my songs are composed by me. I sing about my experiences and life in general,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like any other young artist, Nosabe sings at the taxi ranks, malls, and hostels to promote her music. She said she is open to any event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
